Description

2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, 2nd New Zealand Division, 5th Infantry Brigade, 23rd Battalion, A Company ----------------------------------------- Formed in 1939, the 2nd New Zealand Division emerged during World War II and engaged in significant battles, including the North African campaign. Following the disasters in Europe, the division was then integrated into the regular order of battle of the British Eighth Army. Their involvement in the Battles at El Alamein played a prominent role in defeating German and Italian forces in the Second Battle of El Alamein and the British Eighth Army's advance to Tunisia. ----------------------------------------- Time Period: World War II Theater: North African Campaign Year: 1942
