Description
Raised in the German Speaking region of Pommerania in 1757 as Putbus von Platens Hussar, the Mörnerska Hussar Regiment fought in many battles and campaigns. In 1807 at orders of the King the regiment sent 6 of its squadrons to defend the city of Stralsund from French, Dutch and Spanish invaders, participating at the Great Sortie of Stralsund fighting at Greifswald and Demmin. It later was relocated back to Sweden and put down the Riots of 1811. In 1813 the Regiment participated in the invasion of the Rhine Confederation aswell as Denmark, where it played a crucial role at the battle of Börnehöft, earning it a battle honour.
