This unit is invite-only and its members are handpicked from the MACV Recon School at the discretion of its officers. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 5SFG / Special Operations The 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), nicknamed "The Legion," was activated in 1961. The group was created to combat the increasing threat of the Viet Cong, although the group initially solely served an advisory role. Between 1965 and 1968, the group played a pivotal role in the Vietnam War. They were notably involved in: • Operation Wandering Soul • Operation Harvest Moon • Operation Brush • Operation Sylvester , sneaking behind enemy lines and covertly harassing Viet Cong line of communications and movements. The group's efforts during this time showcased their reliability in combating insurgency as independent teams, expertly navigating and living off the terrain.
