KON | Constitutional Hereditary Monarchy. #32510225
Description
Norway is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democratic system of governance. The King is the head of state, but his role is largely ceremonial. The real power lies with the Prime Minister, who is appointed by the King and approved by the Parliament. The Norwegian Parliament, or Stortinget, is made up of 169 members who are elected every four years through a proportional representation system. Norway's government consists of three branches: the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. The legislative branch is responsible for making laws, while the executive branch is responsible for implementing them. The judicial branch interprets the laws and ensures that they are applied fairly. Norway has a strong tradition of social democracy and a comprehensive welfare state, with high levels of public spending on education, healthcare, and social services.
