APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) was established in 1989 to promote economic cooperation, trade, and investment among economies in the Asia-Pacific region. It was created in response to the growing interdependence of Asia-Pacific economies and changes in the global economy. APEC consists of 21 member economies (not referred to as countries), including Thailand, the United States, China, Japan, and Australia. Its main goal is to reduce trade and investment barriers and support sustainable economic growth through voluntary cooperation. Today, APEC serves as an important international forum for strengthening economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region. 🌍
