I brought extra ammo pouches for myself; the standard equipment only allowed us to carry four extra magazines. You could hardly see Soviet soldiers at all. We had Chinese baggage, Polish tactical vests, American medicines, and German sneakers. Capitalism almost immediately defeated us."
