Il Gruppo di Intervento Speciale, comunemente conosciuto come GIS, è un'unità speciale dell'Arma dei Carabinieri, una delle principali forze di polizia italiane. Il GIS è specializzato in operazioni ad alto rischio e addestrato per affrontare situazioni complesse e pericolose, tra cui la lotta al terrorismo, il sequestro di ostaggi, la criminalità organizzata e altre emergenze che richiedono una risposta immediata e precisa. Fondato nel 1978, il GIS è considerato uno dei reparti speciali più prestigiosi e qualificati d'Europa. Gli operatori del G.I.S. sono selezionati tra i migliori e più competenti Carabinieri, che vengono sottoposti a un addestramento estremamente rigoroso e specialistico per acquisire le competenze necessarie per affrontare le missioni più delicate. Gli operatori del GIS sono addestrati per agire in condizioni estreme, mantenendo la calma e la precisione anche sotto pressione.
