Description
𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗔𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗝𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗣𝗦 "The oldest brigades of the Ocak, steadfast in discipline and unwavering in service." The Cemâʿat formed the oldest and largest division of the Ocak-ı Yeniçeriyân, comprising the first one hundred and one ortas of the Janissary Corps. Established during the formative years of the Ottoman standing army, the Cemâʿat companies served as the foundation upon which the corps was built. Each orta possessed its own officers, traditions, insignia, and esprit de corps while remaining united under the authority of the Janissary Agha and the Sultan.
