Description
Port Corpus Christi has been in operation since 1926 and has since become the largest port in the United States. The Port of Corpus Christi is located on Corpus Christi Bay in the western Gulf of Mexico, with a 36-mile channel that is being widened and deepened to 54 feet MLLW from its current depth of 45 feet.- Nueces River Rail Yard - 223 Railcar Capacity- Trade by Rail Reduces Emissions by 75% Trains here have 3 major lines. Union Pacific, BNSF, and CPKC are partners in port. It's also the third largest in total waterway tonnage and the largest crude oil export gateway in the nation. The Corpus Christi Terminal Railroad (CCPN) was created in 1924. The railroad was created to facilitate the flow of heavy bulk freight cargo traffic from the new Corpus Christi Port's deep water port channel. The port of Corpus Christi Authority owns the railroad, and Genesee and Wyoming Railroad operates it. In August 2022 Watco took over the CCPN leading to CCPN to go away forever. TCBR replaced CCPN.
