Description
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) is the primary intelligence agency of the Republic of Korea. Its roots can be traced back to 1961 with the establishment of the KCIA. The NIS plays a critical role in monitoring domestic and international threats, counterespionage and intelligence collection, all while possessing the capability to respond and directly strike back.
