Battaglione Guardia alla Città di Milanо #32861021
Description
Milan City Guard 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 The Milan City Guard was formed in 1811 to police and garrison the capital city of Italy, Milan. Due to their duties they were not called up for the 1812 invasion of Russia. After the disastrous invasion the Milan Guard was brought to Germany, fighting with distinction in many battles - notably the battles of Lützen, Dennewitz. Upon returning to Italy, the unit fought in the battle of Mincio River where they were commemorated for their courage. The battalion received funding from the wealthy businessmen of Milan. Due to this, the battalion's uniforms were far more fancy and had a unique look compared to many other battalions and regiments at the time. The battalion even added a company made up of the Milan fire department upon their return to Italy.
