-SPECTEMUR AGENDO- The village or Holystray, where St. George’s Road lies, was founded in the late 1830s by aspiring entrepreneur George Smith later Baron St. David’s. His idea consisted of his mill workers and their families living together in back-to-back houses to ensure well-groomed citizens and workers. As he said in 1842; ‘Happy people make better workers’ As the Industrial era dwindled away, the village expanded to more diverse architecture and has become infamous for it’s poverty. Despite the hardships that have occurred on St. George’s Road, especially in wartime, one thing remains - the government, which can surely be trusted in these tough times. Right?
