Description

Legio IX, Hispana, also known as the 9th Spanish Legion existed from the 1st Century BC to 120AD. After surviving various provinces of the late Roman Republic and early Roman Empire, the Legion disappeared with no trace whatsoever. Legio IX Hispana was found at the site of the legionary base at Nijmegen (Netherlands), suggesting that Legio IX may have been based there from c. 120 AD, later than the legion's supposed annihilation in Britain. The Nijmegen evidence has led to suggestions that IX Hispana was destroyed in later conflicts of the 2nd century.

Growth

Growth history is still building. We hold one measurement for this entry. A trend needs at least two, taken days apart — so this will fill in on its own rather than being estimated. We do not publish numbers we have not measured.
