Description
The British Special Air Service (SAS) was founded in 1941 by David Stirling during WWII as a small, elite unit specializing in raids behind enemy lines in North Africa. Known for unconventional warfare, sabotage, and reconnaissance, the SAS quickly gained a formidable reputation. Post-war, it evolved into the UK’s premier special forces regiment, tackling counterterrorism, hostage rescue, and covert operations worldwide. Key moments include the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege in London and extensive operations in the Falklands, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The SAS motto is “Who Dares Wins.”
