Description
The Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue serves as the central office of the Catholic Church tasked with fostering authentic and constructive dialogue between the Church and other religious traditions, in fidelity to the spirit of the Second Vatican Council and especially the declaration Nostra Aetate. The Dicastery carries out its mission through the following responsibilities: 1) Promoting mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between Catholics and the followers of other religions, fostering peaceful coexistence and joint initiatives for the common good. 2) Encouraging the scholarly study of religions, supporting research and knowledge that deepen awareness of diverse faiths and cultural expressions. 3) Forming individuals dedicated to dialogue, ensuring that clergy, religious, and laypersons are equipped with theological, cultural, and pastoral skills for meaningful interreligious engagement.
