"Dost Yok, Dağlar Var" Peşmergeler, tarihsel olarak, şu anda Irak Kürdistanı olan bölgedeki iktidara karşı savaşan Kürt gerilla güçleri olmuştur. Peşmerge, silahlı Kürt ulusal hareketleri için kullanılan kolektif bir isimdir. Başlangıçta, 1946'da, Kürt Birinci Başkanı Qazi'ye itaat eden lideri Mulla Mustafa Barzani ile birlikte bağımsız Kürt Mahabad Cumhuriyeti'ni kurmak için birleşen Irak ve İran'dan Kürt askerleriydi.
