The State Legislature is one of the three branches of the Commonwealth of Livingston state government, responsible for creating, amending, and repealing laws that are enforced by the executive branch and interpreted by the judiciary. Commonwealth of Livingston operates under a unicameral legislative system, consisting solely of the Senate. The Senate is composed of twelve Senators and is presided over by the Lieutenant Governor, who serves as the President of the Senate.
