Description
The 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, deployed into the Pacific Theater of World War II in July of 1942, and participated in the Guadalcanal campaign, followed by the Battle of Cape Gloucester, the Battle of Peleliu, and lastly the Battle of Okinawa. After WWII ended, the battalion found itself deployed to Tientsin, China, to assist in the occupation of Northern China. In October of 1947, with their duties complete, the battalion was deactivated, only to be reactivated again for the onset of the Korean War. Founded: June 4th, 2025
