Description
1593년(선조 26년) 8월 평양과 한성 (서울) 수복 이후 조정에서는 일본군의 해상 퇴로를 차단하라는 명령을 내리면서 수군에 수군 통제사라는 새로운 직제를 만들고, 초대 수군 통제사에 전라좌도 수군절도사였던 이순신(李舜臣)을 임명하였다.
