Der Landkreis Lauenfels ist eine fiktive Region in Südthüringen. Die Verkehrsgesellschaft Lauenfels mbH (VGL) ist die zuständige Firma, um den öffentlichen Personenverkehr am Laufen zu halten, indem sie mit Bussen die Stadtteile und Ortschaften anfahren, sodass jeder überall in der Region hinkommt. Außerdem bietet die VGL mehrere Ersatzverkehrlinien für gesperrte Zugstrecken an. Durch Linien zum Hauptbahnhof gibt es auch den Anschluss an den Nah- und Fernverkehr der Deutschen Bahn. Die Firma wird von der Stadt Lauenfels finanziert.
