Description
1o Regimiento de Infanteria de Suxgbo is split into two Companies, that being; - 1o Compania de Fusileros ‘Tagbiliran’ - 2o Compania de Cazadores ‘Panay’ The initial regiment formed for the Royal Army of Cebu consisted mostly of well-trained troops from the former Spanish Colonial Army. The majority of soldiers and officers in the regiment had previously served under Spain and were stationed in Cebu as part of the garrison. When the revolution began, the garrison commander, Colonel Pedro joined the uprising and led militias in guerrilla warfare against Spanish regulars in their area. After the conflict, Colonel Pedro received orders to raise a regiment for the King’s Army, which led to the formation of the First Regiment of Sugbo.
