Description
After the Third Crusade, England and France unified through the marriage of Eleanor of Brittany and Louis, son of Philip II, forming the House of Ancel. This union created the "United Kingdoms of England and France". War with the Holy Roman Empire led to victory at Augsburg (1215), uniting them under a new empire, the "Holy Union of Britannia, Francia, and Germania". The conquest of Constantinople in 1261 established the "Christian Roman Empire", merging the legacies of Rome. By 1300, religious authority defined the empire, leading to its rebranding as the "Christian Empire".
