Description
Basilikoi Stratos "Imperial Forces" The Basilikoi Stratos, known as the "Imperial Forces," constitutes the monarch's premier military unit. This royal army predominantly consists of the Argyraspides, seasoned phalangites from the Πεζέταιροι ranks. Additionally, the Companion Calvarly and the Royal Peltast comprise the King's cavalry and his foremost skirmishing forces. During wartime, the Basilikoi Stratos serves as the sovereign's authoritative extension in his absence. Eligibility for inclusion in the Basilikoi Stratos requires a transition from the Πεζέταιροι to either the Argyraspides or the Royal Peltast, signifying advancement into this elite unit.
