Description
"Heavy Assault Skirmishers" Macedonian military strategy includes an elite group known as the heavy skirmishers. These infantry soldiers are uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between the phalangites and the peltastai. They possess the dual capability to engage in both skirmishing and close combat effectively. Drawn from the strongest and most capable provincial recruits, this ranged unit has developed into the most tactically adept vanguard or scouting force in all of Greece. To join the ranks of these heavy skirmishers, one must be selected from the taxeis Asthetairoi. The process of selection is democratic, with regiment members voting to admit new candidates.
