[DoS] Department of The State #33487403
Description
A Battery is the senior and founding battery of the regiment, established by Royal Warrant of the King to serve as the regiment’s principal ceremonial and firing element. The Battery was raised in response to the King’s desire to preserve the traditions, discipline, and spectacle of historic artillery, while maintaining a unit capable of representing the Crown at the highest national occasions. By personal instruction of the Sovereign, A Battery was formed first, setting the standards of drill, turnout, and conduct for all batteries that followed. From its inception, A Battery was entrusted with the regiment’s historic guns, colours, and ceremonial precedence. Its gunners were selected from experienced personnel noted for exceptional discipline, bearing, and proficiency, and the Battery quickly came to be regarded as the public face of the regiment.

Growth
Growth history is still building. We hold one measurement for this entry. A trend needs at least two, taken days apart — so this will fill in on its own rather than being estimated. We do not publish numbers we have not measured.
