At Austerlitz, Jena, Eylau, Wagram, and in countless lesser actions now obscured by the dust of history, the men of the Corps proved themselves worthy heirs to the martial traditions of France. They endured frozen marches and the thunder of enemy guns with a discipline that bordered on the legendary. Where the Emperor pointed, the Second Corps advanced; where the line faltered, the Second Corps restored it; where victory hung in the balance, the Corps was often found amidst the struggle.
