[TCE] The Knights' Order #33555884
Description
In the wake of the First Crusade, Geoffroi de Charolais, a nobleman from Burgundy, sought to protect Christian pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. In 1119, he founded the Knights' Order, a religious and military order. With papal blessing, the order quickly gained influence, guarding holy sites and amassing wealth. By the time of the Third Crusade in 1189, their reach extended to England, where the order was recognized by the crown and the clergy. As the United Kingdom of England and France was forged in the 13th century, the Knights' Order became its official military force, serving both religious and political roles. Through the centuries, the order adapted to the times, modernizing by the 1940s while maintaining their ancient traditions. Though the world had changed, the name "Knights' Order" endured, a symbol of their enduring legacy.
