Opened: 1996 Known for: Becoming a cultural hub for exclusive hats and sportswear in Compton. History: In 1996, South LA entrepreneur RC Da Don purchased a struggling Lids store in Compton. Recognizing the cultural significance of hats in the area, he revitalized the store, tailoring it to the community with exclusive designs and collaborations. Despite challenges, RC Da Don transformed the store into a landmark, blending urban culture with sports fashion. To this day, he owns and operates the store, keeping it at the heart of Compton’s culture. Location: Compton, South LA.
