Description
In olden times, the concept of conquering the world simply meant literal control of land, this often resulted in large-scale warfare to contest and maintain dominion over various parts of the globe to the extent each nation could at the time. Like all things, war and the concept of conquest itself have both evolved and the doctrines regarding them have thus changed drastically, resulting in the Shadow War that is known by few and understood by even fewer. Modern conquest is comprised of mercenaries, off-record soldiers, cartels, and other groups fighting for the interests of higher powers in a method that keeps the blame from being pinned on them. Many have compared the Shadow War to that of a chessboard, many pawns who are in the pockets of and are employed by big players, constantly trying to outplay each other through experience and elaborate schemes. Conflict has evolved, and many aspire to seize the opportunity to benefit themselves and their own agendas.
