Though in November of 1813, Caption William Caldwell Sr.- a veteran of the Revolutionary War and of Butler's Rangers, William Caldwell led the corps until May 24, 1814 until he was made Lt-Col. some time in 1814 and then appointed Deputy-Superintendent of the Indian Department which he held until 1816. And was then commanded by Captain James Askin until it was disbanded on May 24, 1815.
