The Loyal Edmonton Regiment "Loyal Eddies" Served in the 49th Battalion, CEF, and was raised in Edmonton in January of 1915, and landed in France early in October 1915. They took a big role in the battle of Passchendaele, Vimy ridge as well as other major battles. and Participated in the final Allied push in August, September, Till the end of the Great War, Soldiers from the Loyal Edmonton Regiment earned a reputation for toughness, discipline and Savagery In 1920, Canada reorganized its militia to perpetuate the CEF battalions. The Loyal Edmonton Regiment was officially granted the lineage of the 49th Battalion, making it a direct heir to its WWI service and honours. Unlike WWI, entire regiments were mobilized as units. In 1939 the LER was placed on active service Initially conducted home defense and training in Canada In 1941, the regiment was mobilized for overseas service as The Loyal Edmonton Regiment (3rd Battalion) CA Active Service Force. And Participated in World War Two
