Description
The State of Appalachia (AP) was established in 1967, Appalachia is located in the Appalachian region, the region includes a vast variety of terrain including but not limited to flatlands, rivers, lakes, and the diverse mountain ranges that not only bring the region together but also make up the boundaries of the region. In 1965 the Appalachian Regional Commission was created to further alleviate poverty in the region, mainly by diversifying the region's economy and helping to provide better health care and educational opportunities to the region's inhabitants. Following the great success of the commission, an independence question arose. A referendum was passed and the State of Appalachia was to become an unincorporated territory of the United States independent from nearby coastal states. The State of Appalachia currently contains 3 counties the most populated being Alamo County.
