Description

Able Company, 5th Infantry Division, 10 MD Combat In Italy The 10 MD was a light infantry division in the United States Army based at Fort Drum. The division fought in the mountains of Italy in some of the roughest terrain in World War II. The MD was the only one of its size in the US military to receive specialized training for fighting in mountainous conditions. The soldiers of the MD were experienced in skiing, mountaineering, and cold-weather survival as well as military tactics. The division saw 114 days of combat and fought against the enemy in many battles.
