Description
The Black Watch is a Scottish regiment of the British Army that was formed in 1739. It was initially created to patrol the Scottish Highlands and maintain peace among the clans. The regiment’s name comes from the dark color of the tartan the men wore and their role to “watch” over the highlands. The Black Watch Regiment has a rich history of serving in various campaigns and wars, including both World Wars. It is now part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
