-BANATE OF BOSNIA- -BANOVINA BOSNE- (1200-1299) It was formed from an amalgamation of various Slavic settler tribes that either expelled or assimilated, but certainly replaced the previous Illyro-Latinic and Rhomeian populations. Christian since the rule of Satimir I and the Age of the Four Unjust Kings, it transitioned to a "Banate" (Banovina or Banstvo) ruled after the death of Svetolik Stjepan, that is the rule under a petty King (a "Ban"). This rendition of the Bosnian state is set in the 13th century, during the reigns of Ban Kulin, Matej Ninoslav, and Prijezda in a time when a so-called dualistic, gnostic, heretical branch of Christianity took the land by storm - the famous "Bogumils" (the "Ones dear to God"). It faced constant interferences from the neighboring powers of the Byzantine Empire and the Hungarian Kingdom attempting to upset the careful balance that the Ban was forced to maintain - if he wished to remain Sovereign for long, that is...
