Description
The Sasanian Empire (Sassanids, Sassanians) was founded in 224 CE by Ardeshir I. Being a descendent of Sasan, primarily claiming Sasan was his forefather Ardeshir revolted from The Parthian Empire and succeeded in 224 CE. What followed was prosperity and power for Iran and a restoration of true Iranian culture. This group takes place between the years of Khosrow II (r. 590 CE through 628 CE). The current year is 610 CE, although it can range from the Arab wars to the Roman-Sasanian wars or even the Sasanian Civil War. The Sasanian Empire is a generally powerful dynasty that had 2-3 golden ages under Khosrow I, Shapur II, and Bahram V. The Sasanian Empire dwindled in the 630s through 50s eventually falling to the relentless Arab conquests in 651 CE. No true Iranian state existed after.
