Description
CUSTODES LICTORIS 'LICTOR FOOTMEN" The Custodes main task was to attend as bodyguards to magistrates who held imperium. They carried rods decorated with fasces and, outside the pomerium, with axes that symbolized the power to carry out capital punishment. The guilds' principal duty was to mount the Guard for Senate meetings, and attending as bodyguards to magistrates, with escort around the city.
