Description

The Order of St. John, also known as the Hospitallers, were a Catholic military order founded in the 11th century. Originally established to care for sick and injured pilgrims in the Holy Land, they evolved into a formidable military force during the Crusades, defending Christian territories and engaging in naval warfare. After the fall of the Crusader states, the Order relocated to the island of Rhode in the early 14th century and later to Malta in 1530.
