Description
☘️ 𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐍 𝐆𝐎 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐇 ☘️ Formed in 1803, Napoleon’s Irish Legion was meant to be the vanguard of an invasion of Ireland. Though that invasion never came, the Irish Legion became one of the most respected foreign units in the French Army. In Spain they became seasoned veterans - fighting alongside their comrades at battles such as Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, and Seville. When the French marched into Russia in 1812, the Irish Legion stood among them, enduring the horrors of the campaign. At Leipzig (1813), they stood with the Imperials against the world itself, their ranks shattered but never their spirit. Even in the final days of the Empire, at the desperate battles of 1814, the Irish Legion refused to let their dream die. 𝗔𝗨 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐃𝐄 𝐋'𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐔𝐑 𝐄𝐓 𝐃𝐄 𝐋'𝐈𝐑𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄
