Description

The Law Enforcement Standards & Certification is responsible for certifying all law enforcement officers before they are allowed to serve in any official capacity. The LESC is the official authority tasked with overseeing the certification process for all law enforcement personnel within Pennsylvania. This division ensures that each officer meets the necessary training, knowledge, and conduct requirements before receiving authorization to operate as a sworn officer. The LESC sets the standards, conducts evaluations, and issues certifications to qualified candidates. Importantly, the LESC maintains the authority to revoke an officer’s certification if the officer is found guilty. Any such violation of law and professional conduct results in immediate decertification, and the individual is barred from pursuing a career in law enforcement within the jurisdiction.
