It is the sole issuing authority of British Indian Rupees, whilst also supporting the issuing of currency for the Princely States. The Indian Rupee is pegged to the Pound Sterling while bank rates for the subcontinent are decided in Delhi. Currencies of the Princely States are likewise pegged to the Indian Rupee, which is the reserve conversion currency of the Indian Empire.
