Seu objetivo principal é identificar desperdício excessivo de recursos ou o uso inadequado de funcionários Classe-D, além de garantir que os princípios éticos mínimos sejam respeitados, mesmo em uma organização como a Fundação SCP. Embora sua existência seja considerada uma "piada de mau gosto" por alguns membros da Fundação, o Comitê de Ética desempenha um papel fundamental nas operações e possui influência considerável dentro da hierarquia institucional.
