Description
The Dope Enforcement Administration is a United States federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Justice tasked with combating illicit dope trafficking and distribution within the United States It is the lead agency for domestic enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act, sharing concurrent jurisdiction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and United States Customs and Border Protection. However, the Dope Enforcement Administration has sole responsibility for coordinating and pursuing United States #### investigations both domestically and abroad. It was established in 1973 as part of the United States government's War on Dope. The Dope Enforcement Administration has an intelligence unit that is also a member of the United States Intelligence Community.
