Description

The Ottoman State in the Napoleonic Wars 🌿Devlet-ı Ebed-Müddet🌿 During the Napoleonic Wars, the Ottoman Empire demonstrated resilience and strategic foresight, standing as a vital force against European upheaval. While the empire faced challenges, reform-minded leaders like Sultan Selim III initiated transformative policies, modernizing the army under the Nizam-i Cedid (New Order) and pushing for administrative efficiency. These reforms, though met with resistance, reflected a keen understanding of the shifting global dynamics, ensuring the Ottomans remained relevant in an era of intense power struggles. Despite external pressures from Napoleon’s Egyptian campaign and internal resistance, Ottoman diplomacy secured alliances with Britain and Russia, preventing French dominance in the region. Far from being a fading power, the empire adapted, proving that even in turbulent times, visionary leadership could steer a historic force toward renewal.
