Description
Royal American Lines, founded in 1819, hath long been counted among the most respected shipping houses of the Republic. Born in the last days of the Revolution, the Line soon gained renown as the Pride of America, its colors carried with dignity upon every sea. Through the War Between the States, and the great wars of 1914 and 1939, its vessels rendered loyal service, bearing troops, stores, and hope across perilous waters. Foremost among its fleet stand three famed ships: RMS Valiant, once a grand liner, later a stout warship, and at peace restored to her former finery; RMS Grand Atlantic II, a noble successor of surpassing comfort and grace; and SS Marentia, swift of steam and trusted for urgent passages. Thus the Line endures, a steadfast name in the long story of American seamanship.
