Description
2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, was heavily involved in combat operations in Afghanistan, particularly during Operation Strike of the Sword in 2009. They were part of the larger effort to secure Helmand Province and disrupt Taliban strongholds. The battalion faced intense fighting, including engagements in Garmsir and other areas, and endured casualties.
