“Sail the Royal way!” — ✦ — -ABOUT US- The Royal Sea Line was a Franco-British maritime company founded in 1861 in Charbonville, near Cherbourg, France. The company specialized in maritime voyages across the English Channel, the North Sea, and the North Atlantic, eventually becoming a prominent force in cross-Channel and transatlantic transportation. During the First World War, several Royal Sea Line vessels were converted into hospital ships, serving to transport and care for wounded soldiers. Other vessels were employed in transporting troops and ammunition, contributing to the wider war effort. By the late 1930s, the Royal Sea Line had fallen into decline and was facing increasing difficulties. In 1940, following the German occupation of France, the Royal Sea Line ceased operations permanently. Its fleet was subsequently destroyed, bringing an end to the long history of this Franco-British maritime company. — ✦ — Creation - Nov 27, 2024
