German Confederation ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The German Confederation was a loose association of German states that existed from 1815 to 1866. It emerged in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars and the Congress of Vienna, which aimed to redraw the map of Europe and establish a new balance of power following Napoleon's defeat. The German Confederation was created as a replacement for the defunct Holy Roman Empire, which had been dissolved by Napoleon in 1806. It consisted of 39 sovereign states, including kingdoms, duchies, principalities, free cities, and other territories, covering much of present-day Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and parts of neighboring countries. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Current President: N/A Headquarters: Berlin
