𝐂𝐎𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐒 • 𝐏𝐑𝐀𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐄 PRAETORIAN COHORTS The praetorians were originally hand picked soldiers who served praetors during campaigns in the early days of the Republic following the overthrowing of Superbus, Rome's last monarch. The praetorian guard was created in 40 BC by two of the three triumvirs of the Second Triumvirate. The imperial bodyguards were stationed at the castra praetoria in Rome.
