Description
The Takeda Clan was a Japanese samurai clan active from the late Heian period until the late 16th century. The clan was historically based in Kai Province in present-day Yamanashi Prefecture. The clan reached its greatest influence under the rule of Takeda Shingen, one of the most famous rulers of the period. The Takeda clan of Kai Province, famously led by Takeda Shingen (1545–1573), were renowned horse masters whose elite, lance-armed cavalry dominated Sengoku-period warfare. Renowned for their "born in the saddle" skill, the Takeda excelled in producing superior horsemen and swift, shock-tactic cavalry charges, often utilizing red armor to create terror
